First Impressions - Passer Grav APC

Image
This chunky boy comes from the same batch as the Mage Grav Sled ... the Passer Grav APC by Ravenstar Studios. As can be seen it's a single cast made from resin with two additional bits for detailing the engine inlets. Again, it is a more rounded design following the pattern of the Grav Sled. Interestingly, the part underneath the hull is detailed as well. As with the Grav Sled the model needs some polishing in order to remove some leftovers from the production process. Dimensions: length 95mm, width 45mm, height 30mm

First Impressions - Mage Grav Sled

Next up the Mage Grav Sled by Ravenstar Studios. It may be used as either a manned (scout?) vehicle or as an unmanned drone. It's a multi piece model made from resin with a chassis and various turrets to be added as you wish. The overall appearance deviates from the more angular shapes of other vehicles which makes it quite  suitable for a non-human armies. In this it is similar to the Cimexian vehicles which I reviewed a couple of posts back.  The details are quite nice but it requires some touching up and cleaning due to (very minor) flash in the grooves and on the smaller bits.  Dimensions: length 58mm, width 40mm, height chassis 15mm, height with turret varies

First Impressions - Cimexian Coccid Medium Tank

Image
Next up is the Coccid Medium Tank.  The model's footprint (pun intended) is the exactly same as the APC variant. The chassis is a bit more streamlined and not as bulky. It sports a turret made of metal. The detailing  is just as good as its larger cousin. Dimensions: length 78mm, width 40mm, height 28mm Both models side by side. At moment the two models are all I have but I've decided to get some more variants. I will present these when they arrive.

First Impressions - Cimexian Prion APC Bug

Image
This nice goodie was in the mail today. The plan was to review it in a couple of days but this is just too good to wait that long The Prion APC Bug is a troop carrier of the insectoid alien race of the Cimexians. The APC is a single cast made of resin. It has minor flash but nothing to write home about. It's hardly noticable. The vehicle (or should I say the bug) is made by Brigade Models in the UK and the new version of an older model of the same type. I really like the organic appeareance of the model which makes it stand out from the more technical approach of other minis. It will be a nice addition to my Phalon army giving it firepower and mobility. Dimensions: length 78mm, width 40mm, height 28mm Next up will be the medium tank version. Stay tuned

First Impressions - Gremlin AFV (Hover)

Image
Another sweet mini by Alternative Armies is the Gremlin Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV).  Essentially the AFV is based on the same chassis as the APC variant but swaps the troop compartment for a large turret mount. This converts the vehicle from a troop carrier into tank. Judging by the cannon types (two variants are delivered with the kit) it could be consider to be either be a light or a medium tank but only your imagination is the limit.  The big guns are then reserved for the Taranis Lifter MBT which will be presented later on. The dimensions and production quality of this vehicle are the same as with the APC variant; the only difference being the height which is closer to 30mm. Dimensions: length 85mm, width 55mm, height chassis 25mm, height at turret approx. 30mm

First Impressions - Gremlin APC (Hover)

At long last another review of a new vehicle. Alternative Armies released a new range of hover vehicles a short while ago. The first one to be reviewed will be the Gremlin Hover APC. The kit is fairly straight forward and consists of a main chassis, a small turret (both made from resin) and two guns made from metal.  There is very little flash from the casting process on the mini. The tank itself is very detailed. The overall appearance is quite modern and IMHO would easily be a nice addition to a game like Hammer's Slammers. The chassis is about 85mm long, 55mm wide and tops at about 25mm (give or take 1 mm).
